It was such an honor to be nominated for the Libestar Award! It’s an award for new bloggers, given by bloggers! It’s a great way to stay connected within the blogging community. I was lucky enough to receive the award from TWO different bloggers. So shout out to Anna from Jet Setting & Living Well and Uelito from Flashpackingtheworld. The rules are that you answer 11 questions given to you from your nominated bloggers (I answered a few from each of them to make my 11 questions) then you nominate 5 additional bloggers and ask them 11 new questions. 🙂 Super simple, super fun! Let’s begin with the questions I was asked:
1. What is on top of your bucket list?
I’m so fortunate to have been able to try all sorts of adventurous activities and like many, my #1 used to be skydiving, but fortunately I was able to cross that off last year! Now, I would love to go hang gliding and swimming with sharks! In terms of bucket list destination, I am forever obsessed with seeing the Northern Lights.
2. Which are your favourite three songs on your music player?
It truly depends on my mood, but more often than not these songs are usually always in my top 10 most played. Blink 182 – Always, The Beatles – Let It Be, Brother Iz – Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World.
3. What is your favourite travel accessory?
Hands down, it’s my camera! Living in the moment is amazing, but I am such a sucker for taking pictures. I love looking at them days… weeks… or even years later. Pics or it didn’t happen!! Right?
4. How do you fund your travels – lots of savings, odd jobs as you go, blogging alone?
At this time, it’s just a matter of savings. My home is in Las Vegas where I am just a normal person who works a full time job. Luckily, my job is rather awesome and allows me to experience Las Vegas and the surrounding areas in a way most people don’t get to! But in terms of outside travel, I just save and save and make it work. One day, I would definitely love to travel full time. I mean, isn’t that the dream?
5. What is your favourite animal and why?
Penguins! The special bird that can’t fly. I think they are just so adorable and I love how they waddle. They are little gentlemen, always dressed so nicely. Who wouldn’t love a penguin?
6. If I would pay you a month in any place of the world, where would you go?
London. My answer will always be London. It’s my favorite place in the world. I had the opportunity to spend two and a half months there and it was still not enough time to see and do everything on my list. I would return in a heartbeat.
7. North America or South America?
Although I have yet to visit South America, I would have to still say North America. The three countries of Canada, The United States and Mexico all have such a vast variety of cities, terrains and experiences to offer. You could probably spend a lifetime just seeing everything that North America has to offer.
8. Where to next – what’s the plan? Do you even have a plan?
This is such a hard question. My passport is itching for new stamps and the world has plenty to offer. In the immediate future I would love to visit some states in the USA that I have yet to see. Some popular landmarks like New York and Florida. Outside of my country, I hope to spend time in Canada and possibly the Caribbean! My plans are always changing, so I could have a completely different answer tomorrow. Half of my enjoyment is just in the planning.
9. If you were on a deserted island, what would be the 5 items you would bring with you?
In a day where everything is dependent on technology and batteries, this question is a really difficult one. I will take a practical and less cynical approach to this and avoid my classic answer of “a boat to get off the island!” So let’s see. A solar generator, my solar powered tablet or laptop, Swiss Army knife, sleeping bag and a large pot. I mean if the island is somewhere in French Polynesia maybe you can leave me there forever.
10. What is your best travel memory?
The first time I got off the tube in the heart of Piccadilly Circus in London. It was the first time I had been away from home for longer than a few days and the first time I have ever traveled alone. It was a scary and liberating feeling all at the same time. I have to say it’s definitely a highlight of my life and an exact moment I can pinpoint when I really started to love travel and when I started to feel truly alive.
11. What’s your hometown and is it worth a trip?
I’m original from a small town in the Philippines called Vintar, Illocos Norte. It’s not a tourist destination at all, but if you are in the Philippines the area is worth a visit. It feels like you are traveling back in time about 40 years, it’s simple but it’s charming. The architecture is beautiful, it’s near a beach and the locals are so friendly. You really wouldn’t regret it.
